PHYSIOTHERAPY

Physiotherapists are regulated health professionals that work to diagnose and treat a wide variety of movement disorders, injuries, and chronic conditions. Our Physiotherapists at Summers Physiotherapy use a combination of manual therapy, dry needling, acupuncture, modalities, and exercise-based rehab, depending on your specific needs.

Some of our Physiotherapists have received additional training in concussion management, vestibular rehabilitation, and pelvic health Physiotherapy. Physiotherapy can help to improve strength and range of motion, provide pain relief, and increase overall function.

MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissues of the body, specifically the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.

Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. KINESIOLOGY

The practice of kinesiology incorporates the sciences of biomechanics, anatomy and physiology to treat and prevent injury and disease, and to improve movement and performance. Our Registered Kinesiologist can develop exercise programs tailored to your specific needs to rehabilitate injuries, manage chronic conditions, or improve general health and fitness. PEDORTHICS AND ORTHOTICS

A pedorthist is an individual who is trained in the manufacturing, fitting and modification of foot appliances and footwear to assist in:

  • Alleviating painful or debilitating conditions of the lower limb.
  • Accommodation of foot deformities.
  • Re-alignment of anatomical structures
  • Improvement of balance.
  • Control of biomechanical function

Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist specializes in women's health issues such as leakage and incontinence, pelvic pain and pressure, pregnancy-related pain, prolapse, painful intercourse, endometriosis, persistent hip and low back pain, along with many other issues. She has also taken specialized courses in pregnancy, postpartum rehabilitation, c-section recovery, and abdominal diastasic to provide you with the best possible care. At Summers Physiotherapy, we believe that education is a powerful tool. Our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist will ensure that you understand your condition, and will work with you to improve your function and quality of life.

PELVIC HEALTH PHYSIOTHERAPY

CONCUSSION MANAGEMENT

Concussions can result in a variety of symptoms, including visual disturbances, balance issues, headaches, nausea, and fatigue. Our specially-trained Physiotherapists help patients manage their symptoms while teaching them proven at-home rehab exercises to help with their concussion recovery. Concussion patients who work with a Physiotherapist who is trained in concussion rehabilitation can experience a safe and gradual return to their daily life without overloading the brain and nervous system. VESTIBULAR REHABILITATION

Injury or disorders of the vestibular system can result in symptoms such as; vertigo, balance issues, nausea, and/or visual impairments. Vestibular disorders can be caused by various factors, including; phyical trauma, aging, infections, tumors, environmental factors and/or for reasons unknown. Commonly diagnosed vestibular disorders include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis , Ménière’s disease and labyrinthitis. Treatment of vestibular disorders is dependent on the cause. Some vestibular disorders (i.e. BPPV) can be treated using manual therapy techniques, vestibular rehabilitation therapy, and home based exercise.

BRACES AND COMPRESSION STOCKINGS

We are pleased to offer a variety of braces for a wide range of injuries and conditions; including custom Donjoy bracing for ACL injuries and osteoarthritis off-loading. We offer a wide assortment of hand, wrist, forearm, ankle, knee, and low back braces, and are always able to order additional braces if necessary.

We are trained to fit for custom medical grade compression stockings and also carry a variety of athletic medical grade stockings.
